What it is
Union Tool Co., New Britain, Connecticut — the same city as Stanley Works. Union produced Bailey-pattern bench planes from c.1890; production gradually merged with Stanley (Union Manufacturing Co. → absorbed by Stanley). Two purchases: one explicitly Union Tool Co., one labelled "Union/Stanley" from the 1920s — documenting the transition period.
Dating
Union Tool Co. planes date roughly 1890–1930 by logo, frog and lateral. "1920's" in the second purchase is seller-estimated — requires verification. The transition to Stanley branding was gradual; mixed "Union/Stanley" markings are typical of the transition period c.1920–1930.
