What it is
The smallest of the Bailey bench planes. Sole 178 mm (7"), iron 41 mm (1⅝"). Produced from 1869; discontinued in the USA around 1961. Not a practical working tool by modern standards — but one of the most sought-after numbers in the Bailey series.
Dating
Type is determined by frog shape, depth adjustment lever type (Y-adj. from c.1899), iron logo (Sweetheart 1910–1930), tote and knob profile. The "as-is" label in the purchase title suggests original uncleaned state — advantageous for dating.
