Construction
The No. 103 is a small, basic block plane — 127 mm (5") sole, iron bedded at 20°. Cast iron body. No lateral adjuster, no adjustable mouth. Fixed bed angle only. A step above the No. 101 in size and a step below the No. 9½ in capability.
Use
End grain trimming, light chamfering, small part work. Simple and direct. Without an adjustable mouth, it requires a sharp iron kept very fine to avoid tear-out on difficult grain.
